Spanish tennis player Carlos Taberner was crowned champion this morning of the sixth edition of the Costa Cálida Region of Murcia Challenger after defeating Dutchman Jesper de Jong in a three-set match (7-6, 4-6, 6-2).

To reach the title, the Valencian had to eliminate the top seed, Marton Fucsovics, in the quarterfinals and Kimmer Coppejans in the semifinals.

Following the match, the awards ceremony took place, attended by the Regional Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Carmen Conesa; the Councilor for Sports of the Murcia City Council, Miguel Ángel Noguera; the President of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Miguel Díaz; and the President of the Real Murcia Tennis Club 1919, Antonio Saura.

At the awards ceremony, Carlos Taberner thanked the spectators for their support, saying, “You made me feel at home during every match and cheered me on from the first point to the last.” He also emphasized “the incredible organization of this Challenger.”

For his part, our president, Antonio Saura, highlighted that the tournament “exceeded all expectations” and praised the work done by the entire club staff, “who stand out for their high level of skill, responsibility, and dedication.”
